Drilling and Tapping for scout mount ?
« on: January 14, 2009, 02:03:38 PM »
I've aquired a .223 standard contour bbl, I'd like to have it drilled and tapped to install a scout/pistol scope on it and make it my dedicated truck gun.  What are your experiences w/ drilling and tapping the bbl for a scout scope setup?

Thanks - Sam

See the Scout Mount links in the FAQs for a little info on what others have done.

I have one of the gray laminated stocked 444 Marlins that I put a scout mount and scope on and it works very well. I use this set up when stalking and walking through heavy woods.

I put a scout mount on my .357 Handi, and I liked it.  I never did drill and tap the third screw, just loc-tited the other two and it was fine.  I finally took it off and put a regular 3-9x50 on it because the little pistol scope wasn't giving my old eyes enough light.

Mine never shot loose with the .357 and I think the .223's light recoil would be fine too.

What mount did you use pete?  Do you have a link to where I can buy one?

Just pm me with your mailing info and you can have it.  I mean the scope rail, not the link.
