As last Friday promised to be the last 'nice day' in some time my wife and I spent several hours at our local MDOC public range. As the day was sunny with the temperature in the low 60s I was very surprised that no one else was there when we first arrived. What I noticed as soon as I arrived was that the range brass boxes at the 25 and 50 yard stations were running over with used brass. A quick check showed a lot of his to be 30-06, 308, 762/39 (brass) and 45ACP, all of which I reload. In all I scrounged a couple hundred re loadable 06s, a bunch of 308 (most of which turned out to have the wrong primers) 20 or 30 762/39 brass empties and about a box of 45s. That was what made it a great day at the range. By the way we had a good two hour shoot with only one other group of shooters showing up. This is my question. The 06 brass had the look of mil sup although it de-primmed easily when I got it home. The one in four usable 308s also had this look. I don't know if these originally had corrosive primers or not. Should I give these a washing in soap and water after I remove the primers in order to removable the corroding chemicals that might cling to the inside of these cases and then possible be transfered to my rifles or not. I know, just clean the rifle as soon as it gets home but that doesn't always happen. Am I worrying about something that is a non-issue or not?
