Veri Flame Adapter In Sidekick 209 Carriers
« on: January 09, 2009, 11:43:05 AM »
Has anyone tried the vari flame adaptor in the NEF 209 carriers?
Would the amount of blow back be reduced?

Mauser; I don't use the vari flame. I use the 25acp breach plug. From everthing I've read on this forum the vari flame adapter is just as dirty as a regular 209 primer in the orange primer carriers. There isn't much you can do with the orange primer carrier to prevent blowback. There is a lot of information on this site concerning this. Try looking at some of Bustas post or send him a message. Sorry I could'nt help more.  Jeenks

mauser42,

Welcome to Graybeards! While the vari-flame adapter has a place in muzzleloading, it surely isn't with the NEF primer carriers. The vari-flame will be no cleaner than the regular 209's when it comes to blowback. The vari-flame is best used in T/C Encore/Omega type breech plugs where it actually sits in a primer pocket. If you want to get rid of 95% of the blowback, get the .25 ACP plug. What kind of powder are you shooting? That can also determine which primer you should use.

I agree completely with Busta. I tried the veriflame in my huntsman as I had it for my encore. Anyway they did not fire well in the carriers and they also were as dirty and regular 209's.  The best solution for the blow back is the 25 acp breech plug.
