.375 win in a .38-55 target

Has anyone fired .375 loads in their buffalo classic target?   What type of performance did you see?  Has anyone loaded their .38-55 brass to a .375 pressure?

Max psi for the 375 Win is 63817psi. Not a healthy pressure for a Handi.
Stay with recommended loads for the 38-55. Altthough with the irregular bore diameters of the 38-55 god knows what kind of pressure you get.

I think your mistaken.  The max pressure for a .375 is only 50,000 cup.  That is less than the .35 whelen and far less than the .500 S&W.  If it is safe in a tc contender is should be safe in a Handi.

Yes in Starline long brass using Lyman 48th data, 220gr JSP @ 2385fps.

The SAAMI MAP for the 375 Win is 52kcup or about 60kpsi which is ~64kpsi CIP as Fred said, well within the Handi capabilities with a smaller case head than the 270Win which has a SAAMI MAP of 65kpsi.

I'm not advocating 375 Win level loads in just any 38-55, that would be foolish, but the 38-55 Target uses the same SB2 frame and 4140 alloy barrel of the high pressure chamberings available from H&R like the 270Win, 30-06 and 500 S&W. Just be sure that any ammo you load in the 38-55 brass doesn't get in any other 38-55 firearm.

The real point is its a 38-55... NOT A 375.  :o :o :o

 Loading the wrong ammo in the wrong caliber gun is foolhardy at best. Not smart and no reason to do so, the 38-55 is a good one as is. Want a bit better, studious reloading can improve the ballistics. With the larger diameters its NOT all about speed.. its about bullet diameter!!! ::) ::)

Thanks for all your comments.  I wish that H&R had a custom shop that would ream chamberings like TC does.  I could then to avoid asking questions like those above.  I'm a safe reloader and I know that there are some very experienced reloaders on this site as well that is why I asked.  I would not be so foolish as to try to 'hot load' a normal 38-55.
