Sent My Receiver Off To H&R Today
« on: January 05, 2009, 02:42:55 PM »
I sent my receiver off to H&R today to to get a .357 Mag barrel fitted to it.
I plan on reaming it out to 357 Maximum when I get it back. You guys
talked me into it! ;) ;D Launching 180 grain hollow point rounds down range
with that Maximum sounds like some of the most fun you can with your
clothes on.  ;D

There have been a bunch of happy customers in the last few months, don't let the few that had problems blemish the truth, some have had problems waiting on out-of-stock parts, a couple had packaging issues,  but the majority have had good service once the bugs got worked out. ;)

Tim

Got mine back in 6 weeks .  Sent a frame in to be fitted with 357. 280 and 12 gauge.  All arrived back well packed and undamaged.  Charges were as stated on the order form.  Very happy, plan on sending back another frame in the next couple of months for a 44 and 308

Sent my Handi 223 in for a 20ga USH and 26" Blue Muzzle loader barrel. Came back in 6 weeks. Returned UPS in one small box for a forearm, one Remington barrel box for the shotgun barrel, and a full box with the muzzleloader already attached to the receiver. Both barrels were test fired and came out shiny once I cleaned them. I haven't shot them yet, but they all attach and lock up well. The stock did have some marks from the vise on the sides, but they rubbed off. The invoice sent back was confusing with all the line items, but the bottom line price was what I expected. I am happy with the timing and the products.

I purchased a SB2 for my son 10/15/08 and shipped it from La two days later UPS ground.  I spoke to Rem's customer service 2 weeks later to confirm my request and order, and was surprised to get it UPS today 11/27/08!  A buddy told me about this site and I've been reading the horror stories about Illion.  Can't wait to shoot some targets in the morning.

Very satisfied! I sent my TH Stock and frame in to have a 12ga barrel put on. they couldn't fit the Heavy Barrel to my frame so they were going to put the Handi Partner barrel (Iron sighted)  I called them after looking through my catalog and asked them If I could get an Ultra light barrel put on instead (don't like Iron Sights getting old). I was informed that the Ultra light barrel isn't part of the Barrel accessory program but he would check for me. He came back on the line and said that they have them in stock and he would make sure that the Ultra light barrel was put on for me. ;D ;D When I recieved the rifle back I checked it all over, didn't find a scratch or nick anywhere. All in all I am very satisfied with the service. I agree with whoever said that the service will get better as time goes. I'm sure that if Whetherby or Zeiss moved their manufacturing plant from one place to another they would also have some problems also.

Got my handi back with .308 win barrel yesterday.  Packaged well.  Charged correctly, wrote a check per price list.  I sent it off Sept. 24 and recieved back October 24.  Month turn around is pretty good in my book.  O haven't shot it yest but everything seems to be in order!

100% yes.  Took them 4 1/2 weeks from the time I mailed my receiver (Aug 22) to get back (Sept 24) a new barrel.

I voted that "yes" I am satisfied with Ilion.  I sent for a barrel installation on August 1 knowing that was the time of the major shift of work form NEF to Remington.  I got my barrel back yesterday (7 weeks) and everything is great.  It locks up perfect, there are no other dings in the stock (except fo the ones that I put htere berfore I sent it!), and the scope rail was mounted on securily.  My only complaint and this is minor is tha the barrel was fouled from them shooting it.  But I take comformt in the fact that they did indeed shoot it andit worked.  The fact that they didn't clean it is minor.  Most barrels shoot better a littel dirty anyway.

Overall, I have been pleased.

I called H&R this morning to make sure they had 357 Mag barrels in stock and the fellow I
spoke to on the phone assured me they did. He said there is a 4-6 week turnaround time
right now. I have never been steered wrong by H&R yet as long as they had the barrels
I wanted in stock when I have sent my receiver in to them turnaround time has been
typically 4 weeks or less.

I rented the reamer to do mine, and at the same time I ordered the components for loading the max, and I've already reamed the chamber and sent back the reamer, and I'm still waiting on the components. ::)

I took my time, and it still only took me about fifteen minutes to do the job, start to finish, and sent the reamer back within an hour and a half of getting it in the mail.

Easy mod! 8)
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

THANKS TIM!!!!!   ;)

Once again your here with the information I need ;D.  I had been wondering the same thing about sending off a receiver......now I feel great about my decision to have a BC barrel fitted to the 38-55 I just picked up.  For the $$$ I think this is the best way to go for now.  Later when funds allow, I'll work out a 40-65 (if I feel its necessary ::)) conversion.....in the meantime I'll have a 45-70 and my 38-55's to 'play' with ;D.
