10 FPC HS Pet Loads
« on: January 04, 2009, 08:34:31 PM »
I just ordered a new Savage 10 FPC with the HS Precision Stock.  I'm wondering if anyone has any Pet Loads for the 308 in this configuration for Mid to Long Range.  My plans are to start with Varget powder and Sierra Match Kings 168 grains for now, possibly going up to 175, 180, 190 or 200's later on.  My initial plans are for 500 yard shooting moving up to 900- 1,000 yds. later.

Mine shoots really well(1/2moa or better) using 43.5 gr Varget and 168gr SMK's. Thats using Rem brass and cci200 primers. Havent tried better brass or BR primers yet. I give it about a .020" jump to the lands.

Make sure you work up to this load though. Start at 42gr. Mine actually shot the best 100yd groups with the 42gr, but opened up farther out. The 43.5 was the most consistant out to 600yds, but will shoot 5shot 1/4moa groups at 100 and 200.

Hope this helps.
