I can pass on some second hand info.
Ceiner doesn't have a safety/decocker
Beretta has come out, with a .22lr conversion kit of their own which will be a little more expensive but will beat the Ciener on two important points. Ceiner doesn't have a safety/decocker. The Beretta factory model does. It will have a safety so you can lower the hammer safely and practice your DA shots more realistically. Second, the magazines are supposed to drop free.

Thanks Papa Bear, I'm mostly into big bore stuff and bought the 92FS for my wife. She does OK with it but complains about the recoil and noise, even with good ear protection. Thought a 22 kit might help. The Ciener with an extra mag and shipping is about $250. It would be worth it if it functioned the same as the factory slide. I wasn't aware that the Ciener didn't have the safety/decocker and thanks to your input, would not consider buying it. What are the Beretta conversion kits going for?

I believe this conversion is a little pricey compared to the Ceiner, some where around $300. to $350. with 1 magazine, but the quality is much better.

Thanks again Papa Bear. I checked the web site and found prices. The slides on the Ciener and Berreta are both aluminum. Ciener has better magazines. Beretta has the decocker. Either cost more than a new .22. Guess I'll go buy a Ruger 22/45 and be done with it.

I read your other post on the Stampede. I just got a new 45 LC 7 1/2" bbl two weeks ago. The fit and finish are super. I measured cylinder gap, barrel to cylinder indexing, endshake and cylinder throats. All measurements are exceptionally good. Trigger pull is light and smooth, lock-up is very tight. I compaired it to my Colt SAA and it's better quality in all respects and cost 1/4 as much. I got the blue model and don't like the plastic grips. Next gun show I'll find some nice wood grips for it. I took it out to the range the other day and ran some 250g reloads through it. Shoots very good. I'm about 2" high at 25 yds but got some nice groups. My Colt SAA is a "safe queen" and has never been fired. It's lock-up is loose, cylinder gap is .008, throats are too tight, endshake is .004, finish is grim, and the trigger is gritty, all for the meer sum of $1550. Guess where it's going?

Iowegan; It may be of interest to you that the 22/45 (at least the one I just traded off) requires that the slide release be pressed down to release the slide, and it's rather hard to release it. In other words, you can't release the slide to chamber a round by pulling back on the slide and letting it go, like you can w/ the MkII. Also, the magazine doesn't drop free, and if the shooters hand is "normal" sized, it will probably hit the mag base so you have to change your grip to get it out. Also, you can't replace the grips, and they're a bit slick. All in all, I'd give it a "6" out of 10. I didn't notice any of these shortcomings when I bought it, and took quite a hit trading it off... just something to think about.

edit: Forgot to add that I like the Ciener for my 96; shoots well, functions flawlessly, nice mag but the base occasionally works loose. The lack of safety is annoying, but since the Ceiner only cost $220, don't think it's worth the extra bucks.

I sell the Beretta version & I must say I am very impressed. Excellent sight, quality workmanship, etc. Also good to know it was specifically engineered for the Beretta. I sell them for $285 shipped.

Just how many .22 rounds would one have to shoot to make up the difference in price of converting a 9mm to a .22?
I have a .22 pistol and it shoots real good.
I have a FS and it shoots good, too.
The rounds for the 9 are around $10.00 per 100 rounds a la Wallyworld.
The reason I bought the FS was because it was cheaper to shoot than my .40 caliber Ruger.
Someone please do the math and get back to me?

2 things I like @ the Beretta kits: 1. Made BY Beretta & designed only for the Beretta, 2. Having a slide mounted safety.
To answer the last post, You can get a 22 pistol for less, but alot of the kits I sell are sold to LEO's who use them for practice. (one even reported back that 1st day she put @ 600rds thru her's!) I know most departments encource officers to practice & provide ammo, but I think it's great that some LEO's want to go the extra mile & want to do more! Alot of Officers go by the "one gun, one method of carry" rule & using a 22 trainer helps to reinforce that...

A friend of mine has one.. . I shot it and liked it alot. I just ordered one from my dealer,, $325.00 with 1 exra magazine for it..
