« on: December 29, 2008, 09:09:47 AM »
A friend broke the hammer on his Model 60 ::) and wants to know if there is a target hammer  ??? that will fit it.  Does anyone know?

Cummon now guys, I'm serious!  It is a friend, my bestus huntin buddy!  It wasn't none of me... I promise!  And don't ask me why he wants a target hammer on a snub nose...  ;)

AtlLaw - for a j-frame wide spur hammer you would probably have to get ahold of S&W, and I have always found them very helpful, or cruise the Brownells catalog and see if they carry one for a j-frame.

I know there are at least two types of hammers available for the j-frame and the M60 in particular, but my brain has suffered a temporary flatus attack and I can't remember the difference.  HTH.

I'm purdy shore that once upon a long long time ago in another life I had a J-frame S&W with target trigger and hammer. Can't recall perzackly what it was but I'm reasonably sure S&W at least once offered that option so sure you might be able to get one for your broken hammer er I mean for your friend's broken hammer.

Thanks for the insight!  I was thinking about this on the driving home from work.  Kinda decided there wasn't much likelyhood that S&W would make such for a J frame.  Once again I was shown to be wrong!   :(

Try this one.  I think the 0.375" is as wide as they get.

Thanks Don!
Believe it or not this is the first chance I've had to check your site!   ::)  I should have thought of Brownells!  :P

i had a 3 in. bull bbl. mod. 36 and it seems the trigger and hammer were different than the standard on the 2 inch gun . that was about 1977 . Wish i still had it along with several others .
