My 30-30 ejector barrel was like that when I first got it.
I scrubbed the chamber real good with a brass chamber brush and it started ejecting fine.

That is the good thing about extractor barrels... no stuck cases.

Read chamber polishing in the FAQs and Help sticky, you can also install a BB ahead of the ejector spring to eliminate sticking brass that isn't caused by too hot of load, a dirty chamber or brass. And forget using milsurp and steel or lacquered cases too.

Maybe you have a barrel with just an extractor. They won't eject the case, just move it out a bit where you have to manually pull it out with your fingers.

If carbineman nailed it, the only way to make an extractor auto eject is to convert it to an ejector as shown in the FAQs, then you may face sticking brass which is no fun and why all centerfire rifles are now extractors which only remove the round about ¼" then it must be plucked from the chamber by hand.  ;)

Or you could have an ejector like came on my .223 bull from Illion through the accessory barrel program (Yes, the one that took 5 months to get back - went in June 18th 2008).

All the ejectors were supposed to have been gone - mines an ejector.  All the barrels were supposed to be 1-9" twist, mines a 1-12".

It should have an ejector that was made for a .223 diameter case, it doesn't.  I could care less how much polishing you do on the chamber - if the ejector doesn't come up high enough to catch the lip of the cartridge case, it won't work.  Looks like maybe an ejector for a larger dia case.

It will spring down - farther away from the case, but not up towards it.  And the ejector housing is not packed full of machining chips like others have found, it was clean - looks like it's just the wrong ejector.
