Grandfather handed down this gun and was  wondering how old it is. Is there any website or anything to tell how old it is?

Made from '67 to '73. No help on specific date it was made but that would require the SN anyway which you didn't give. Dunno if the sites that list manufacture dates of winchester rifles list the 190 or not. Once upon a long time ago this URL took you to a site with Winchester SN by year. Dunno if it still works or not.

I bought a Winchester 290 when I was 14 years old.  Of course, this was before the gun control act of '68.  It had more deluxe wood(impressed checkering) than the 190 but basically the same gun.  $46.50 brand new in them days.  Many squirrels and gophers found their way to the graveyard with that rifle.  Good shooter, reliable, handy...still have one around.  Works better than most .22 auto loaders.

I had one as a kid & later traded it off. A few years ago I got one for free that was damaged in a fire. I cleaned it up & gave it a home reblue job the best I could. It has functioned fine. I may go down today to the local used shop & offer something for the used one they have. They go for about $125 on gunbroker. I know it's an older post but I don't see much mention of the 190/290 & think they are a fine semi-auto 22.
