would colt peacemaker grips fit it
I had the same questions, and searched the internet and never found any accurate answers.
As grip frames can be slightly different, even within a specific model and all SAA grips require some fitting, I took my USFA Cowboy back to the factory for an upgrade on the grips. (I'm in CT)
I picked out a Tiger Walnut blank, and asked for smooth grips. USFA can do some beautiful checkering, but then the figure of the wood is lost if you choose checkering, and the checkering is sometimes tough on your hands with the "roll ' of a SAA, and also a bit delicate for a woods gun.............
The factory then fit and sanded the grips to my grip frame, then repolished and reblued my grip frame.
The result is a "fit" that is undetectable as to the seam between the wood and the steel.
The whole process took less than a week. The cost, while more than internet grips, was well worth the $$ when you considered the end result.
I then oil finished the grips right on the gun...........18-20 coats of hand rubbed boiled linseed , and the finish looks fabulous.
