Ruger SS bisley 45Colt / 45acp
« on: November 27, 2008, 04:35:16 AM »
Anyone have one ??  I was looking for a SBH Bisley Hunter in 44M....still haven't found one, but run across one of these.  Looks real sweet !  5 1/2 inch barrel ith the black laminate grip....sure is pretty.  I'm wondering about hunting with it though....the SBH , of course has a 7 1/2 incher with the rib and rings , more set up for hunting....which is the intended plan.   Just wondering if anyone has one and what they think of it .  Thanks irold

Forgot to add ,  the place I was looking at was selling them for $515......plus shipping and of course my FFL on my end.

Hi Irold

If you intend to use it as a dedicated, scope mounted gun, then I would continue to look for the 7 1/2' Hunter model.  Like you said, already set up for a scope.

Shorter barrel revolvers can certainly be used for hunting.  Alot of deer have been taken with 4' Smiths and 4 5/8' Rugers.

irold,

Sounds like you were looking at a Bisley Accusport special in s.s. with cylinders for .45 Colt and .45acp.
These were a special run with the 5.5 inch bbl. and are a bit hard to find in the $500.00 range. Maybe you should buy it and still look for the hunter model - can't have too many .45's.

Autorim ,

I believe your right , its a beautiful piece , scroll work on the 45 colt cylinder , just REAL NICE !  I don't know how to post web sites , but I just looked again , its on " onlinegundeals.com " , go to Ruger single actions and scroll down till you find it.....$515 plus 20 for shipping and of course your FFL transfer , its available now.   I clicked "buy now" and it said : "available" .   I thought it sounded pretty good too.  Both cylinders , New In Box with everything !   That's why I sort of wondered if I should look at it instead of the Bisley Hunter I've been waiting for.  For me though , I think the SBH Bisley is right for me.  Better check it out if you think you may be interested. Thanks , irold

As an after thought ,  Do you think thats a good price and maybe it will go up in value ??  I'm not one to buy special editions and leave them lay in the box...I shoot what I get !  Thanks

I think it's a great price. I just need to wait and see how I get through the winter, first. I have one in 41mag that was $100 less than this one, several years ago. I "need" a 45Colt for a stablemate! LOL!

I think you should buy it. I have a .41 and .357, but not the .45 . Going to gun show tomorrow though. I also have a full flap holster ordered from El Paso for the 5.5 inch Bisley's.

I have one on layaway, My last payment goes out tomorrow. So I should have it next week sometime.
Now all I need is the 44 Mag version.

As far as I am concerned, if it is a 5.5" SS Bisley, I am all over it.

I have a couple of the 5.5" Bisleys and a Hunter.  You can't go wrong either way and the price seems fair enough.  The hunter model is the best shooting Ruger that I own and with the supplied rings, the scope comes off real easy and goes back on just as quick.  But the little Bisleys sure are a lot easier to pack than the Hunter.
