 There are many many choices out there. I always liked SWEETS in the black bottle. But there are likely many that work just as well....

 Some guys have some strong opinions on what they like and don't like. That's all I meant.

 I don't like to tell people flatly "use the search" its a bit harsh and not very friendly. I try to vaguely answer and suggest for more info...look here or there...

Wipeout, works better than anything else I've ever used.

A second vote for WipeOut if you want the easiest and most effective solvent without any bore scrubbing and without the time constraints on allowing it to work as there are with ammonia based solvents, the other foaming cleaners are almost as good and easier to find tho, but the new WipeOut dispenser tube looks to be nicer to dispense the foam from the chamber end, haven't got a chance to try it yet tho, Sportsman's Warehouse only had the old style in stock which works great with the right tubing combination to get it in the bore.

The heavy duty ammonia based copper solvents like Montana Extreme, Sweet's and Barnes CR-10 work great for cleaning light fouling between shots during break-in tho, but for heavy duty cleaning overnight, nothing beats the foaming cleaners that require no elbow grease or brushing, just a couple patches.

I've refined my application technique that makes no mess, just slip a wide mouth drink bottle over the muzzle, and using a piece of tubing over the nozzle of the foaming cleaner that fits the chamber snug so the foam can only go down the bore making for a nice application. Once you learn how much "trigger" time on the button to get the foam thru the bore without an excess accumulation in the bottle, there will be less wasted cleaner.  The bottle works great to collect patches too when the time comes.

I'm with Tim.  I've only used the Gunslick brand, but it worked good and I could do something else like talk to Mama.  Then I can go back in my room and not get into trouble with her.    She's really good about it, but with her working 12 hour shifts at night and me doing 11 hr. or so days, it's nice to see her once in a while.    This is wife number 3 and she's better than the first 2 added together and then times 10.  If I even mention a gun she just tells me to go get it.   I'm keepin' her for sure.   DP

That's right..
  The foaming cleaners TOTALLY slipped my mind!!!  My theory is that by there design, they allow the solvent to be in contact with the fowling longer. Allowing the solvent to more completely remove the fowling.

 I have also had good luck with BLUE WONDER. Its a gel and not as good as the foams, and not touted as a copper solvent, it does an excellent job.

I like wipeout, I also used to like Sweets, but I'm kind of cheap by nature and while both work good, they are kind of expensive.... I went to Ace Hardware and got a 32 ounce bottle of industrial strength ammonia cleaner for $4 and it will last me for a very long time.  It works good for most cleaning chores, just make sure you follow the appropriate cleaning with hoppes or the like to remove the ammonia so you don't rust out your bore from the moisture that ammonia salts will attract....just like sweets.  Generally when I get a new barrel, I use the wipeout first and then hoppes and Ace ammonia after that.  Everyone has a secret recipe!
