what gives
« on: November 20, 2008, 04:23:30 AM »
i know that I'm about to be beat over the head till it's bloody, but here we go.  I love mt trapdoor, Love my muzzleloaders, always thought that i would like a ruger #1 or #3,  t.c."s are ok.  I thought that i would like H&R ( still hunt with my gradfathers H&R pre-topper 16G).  Sooo, off i went to the local gun shop to get me one of those handi rifle in 7x64mm bren. That thing handled like a section of pipe banded to a 2x4.  I didn't spend my money, never got to shoot on so maybe I'm missing something.  still like the looks of the synthetic 45-70 handi.  am i missing something or have they got better since back then?

How long ago did you look at them? There are survivor stocks, Thumb hole stocks, laminated stocks, synthetic stocks just to name a few variations. I realize everyone has different tastes so we do not all like the same things. I have two frames - both with the checked laminated stocks. Peek at my avatar, that is a 223 Varmint Ultra. I think they handle just fine. Relatively light weight, short, easy to point - they are handy; what more could I ask? My wife thinks the two Handi's I have are a couple of the better looking guns I have, I am not one to argue with her about such matters, especially since I agree. ;D
