Use it for the next shot. I have learned alot of things in life and most of them have been learned the hard way.
If you remember the flubbed shot the next time you are sighting at game it will help you.

GOOD SHOOTING!

Hey, stuff happens.

My daughter jerked one at a whitetail doe last week.  I saw the dust puff behind the rump.   ::)???  Half hour later she made a Zen shot on another fat doe.

I sent my 13yr old son out today to sit in the stand in the backyard to wrap up the season and bring home some meat.  Gave him the NEF Tracker II rifled 12 ga with the 1.5-4x scope shooting Hornady sabots right on at 100 yds.

I heard 2 shots right before dark here an hour ago and 5 mins later the boy was on the deck looking for me.  He said a nice buck showed up out of nowhere 60 yds out from his stand in the bean field.  Resting on the stand's shooting rail he squeezed off a round.  He said the buck trotted out to 100 yds and started walking.  He cracked off another round and the deer hit the burners and headed for the swamp.

On neither shot did the deer hunch, side step or leave its feet.  I went out and looked with him and found no hair or blood looking for an hour.  Clean miss I told him, happens to the best of us.  I told him had he connected with that 12 ga he would have had no doubt.

Now he wants a muzzle loader license......

I miss more close shots then the longer ones.  Its called "Buck fever".  I just call it excess adrenaline.

Double R,
You're not alone.  I just missed a buck at 50 yards this evening.  I was feeling miserable about myself, logged onto the computer, and found this thread.  You can bet I'm gonna be checking that scope out on the range tomorrow to make sure it wasn't knocked out of alignment, but I have a feeling it was me that missed.  I feel for you.  Thankfully, our season is just starting, so I should have another chance to rectify it.

I JUST missed a 4 pointer last week.  Got to within a few yards of him too.

We BOTH saw eachother at the same time.

I had just enough time to react, and so did he.

Fortunately we both got stopped before he became a hood ornament!

I jerked on a six point last sat. I lost my shirt tail as a result.

I missed 2 easy shot's on 2 different hogs last year... It happens to the best of use when we are excited... If your heart doesn't start pounding when looking through the scope when your about to shoot, you need to give up hunting...
