R U sure the model is 2204 ?
AFAIK, Savage first introduced the gun in 1938 as the Model 220 shougun, and then shortly announced a Model 219 rifle, using the exact same action.
Both used the same hammerless shotgun frame, with a top lever & top tang shotgun-style safety.
The last "L" models of each (219L & 220L) had side opening levers ILO the previous top levers.
In 1938, Savage introduced their Utility Guns - the exact same guns but with two interchangeable barrels, one shot, one rifled - as the Model 22Y, which was changed in 1946 to a consecutive series running from model 221 to 231.
The Model 219 was a single barreled rifle, as was the later 219 B/C/L.
The Model 220 was a single barreled shotgun, as was it's later 220 variations.
All rifle barrels were 26" long, w/the shotgun barrel's various lengths noted below.
The rest were two barrel sets.
The Model 221 was .30/30 & a 30" 12ga
The Model 222 was .30/30 & a 28" 16ga
The Model 223 was .30/30 & a 28" 20ga
The Model 224 was .25/20 & a 30" 12ga
The Model 225 was .25.20 & a 28" 16ga
The Model 226 was .25/20 & a 28" 20ga
The Model 227 was .22Hor & a 30" 12ga
The Model 228 was .22Hor & a 28" 16ga
The Model 229 was .22Hor & a 28" 20ga
The Model 230 was .32/20 & a 30" 12ga
The Model 231 was .32/20 & a 28" 16ga
The Utility Guns were disc in 1947, with the 219 disc in 1949, and the 220's disc in 1965 & 1972 (side lever Model "L").
