Picking out a frame
« on: August 11, 2003, 02:31:00 PM »
When picking out a frame for a custom 5 shooter what do you look for? I would think some frames are better than others. What areas of a frame or receiver seem to be out of spec the most? I'd hate to pick up a frame and it turn out to be a dud. Do you generaly stay away from used frames or are they fine too? I'm looking for something in stainless.

Thanks,
Scott

With you stating "custom 5 shooter"  that pretty much takes out everybody except Ruger, Magnum Research BFR, and Freedom Arms.  You pays your money and takes your choice.

Ruger Bisley or Ruger?

Hello, whether it's Bowen, Clements, Linebaugh, Huntington or Reeder, they all have been there and done that!
Sometimes the axis pin/base pin holes are slightly misaligned but most smiths have a solution for that problem.
Buy the cheapest banged up Ruger you can find, most everything will be replaced anyway!

Another vote for the Ruger Bisley.
