Bisley discontued ???

I've been looking for a Super Blackhawk Hunter with the Bisley grip frame for several months now , can't find any.  Several of the auction sites have them listed , but at some ridiculous prices.  My local dealer tried to find one today for me , he called 5 different distributors , none had any available.  One told him he thought Ruger had discontinued it , another told him they were coming out with it in 45 colt........anybody privy to any information?  Thanks

Do ya have a Sportsmans Warehouse close at hand? I was at our local one the other nite and they had 1 hanging behind the counter. I don't know if they can do store transfers on handguns or not.

  To the best of my knowledge the Bisley Hunters are not discontinued nor scheduled to be.  I believe Ruger does thier production runs as Lean manufacturing so it's basclly built as odered so there's very little overhead stock sitting idle in the warehouses like there used to be. When there's enough of a model ordered they do a run.  These are hugely clamored after so a run might only happen a few times each year.
  The 45 Hunters would be from Lipseys.  They did these a few times ago in both standard and Bisley configurations (I got the standard 45 Hunter).  Davidson's had a run made for them in both configuration in .41 magnum.
  Prices are going up so expect to see these in the $600 range.

huntswithdogs ,  don't know of any sportsmans warehouses near me...I'm in western Pa.  I did pass on a reg blkhawk hunter in stainless a few months ago....it was nice, but I've got my heart set on a bisley hunter model.

Blkhawk73 , you must be right , don't know the name of the distrubitor , but my dealer says they're only a few miles from the Ruger plant in Arizona.  They didn't have any either , says they'll put me on a list.  I'm not familar with Lipseys....they like Horton.  I have an early 686 that Lou Horton had made to his specs , nice revolver.   Thanks again , guess I'll just have to wait and stay tuned for that deal of a lifetime !  irold

Thanks Broomrider , why didn't I think of that.......the web . its amazing ! Looks like its 2-3 hours from me, just off of I-279.  I'll give them a call , find out what they have......and how much.  Its been my experience some of the big warehouse type stores ( ie Cabelas ) are pretty high in price.  But , guess if I really want one..........Thanks again,  Mike

 The one in AZ is davidson's who also does a LOT of distributor editions with Ruger, marlin and Winchester especially. Others too.  Lipsey's is another wholesaler and like davodson's and others contracts manufacturers for non-cataloged variations which they in turn get exclusive distribution of.

Sounds like a plan , SLAVAGE , but my dealer already has me on a list at Davidsons (the place in Arizona ), better be careful I'll end up more than I can pay for ! (LOL )  Thanks , anyway , I assume your refering to the Sportsmans Warehouse.  Think I'll give a few weeks see what he comes up with.....a Bisley Hunter in 45 colt , that may get my attention too.

Better yet...how about a stainless. There are SEVERAL Ruger Bisley stainless conversions (45 Colt/45 ACP duel cylinder combos) with 5 1/2" barrels on gunbroker.com right now in 45 colt. Price varies from 595 to over 900....but several new in box are listed under 600 right now. Most auctions of these guns close around 700. Here is one.

good luck on finding a Bisley Hunter in 45 colt , there was less than 400 of them built , so your odds of finding one is pretty low and if you do find one  be prepared to pay big bucks for it
