Rem 7600P & 7615: Firing from the prone position??
« on: November 08, 2008, 12:26:39 PM »
Dear Guys,

Remington sells the 7600P and 7615 as law enforcement rifles, and now many survival type folks are buying these as well.   My question is:  Has anyone tried to fire these in rapid fire from the prone position?   By this I mean, can you operate the pump-action rapidly and smoothly in the prone position, without jamming, or is this a really clumbsy procedure that requires you to turn halfway on your side to cycle the action?

I guess my point is, that if you can't efficiently operate these while laying down on your belly, then I'm not sure I would view these as suitable rifles to have in situations where somebody may be firing back at you!

   All replies appreciated.

Regards, Mannyrock

Mannyrock,  I have shared these concerns as well.  Also, the price of these firearms is out of my reach.  My solution was to purchase Romanian AKs that have been factory modified to pump action.  The thing that I like about these rifles is that the return spring was left in the action, therefore all you have to do is pull the handle back and let it go.  It will return to battery by itself, vigorously I might add!  The model # are PAR-1,(7.62x39), & PAR-3,(5.56x45).  They are also capable of acceptting hi-cap mags.  CAI imported them.  There is also a tactical shotgun from TRI-STAR, called the "COBRA", with the same system.  I have one of those, also.   The AKs have the rails on the left side of the receiver and the shotgun takes dovetail mounts from Weaver.  These weapons have solved the dilemma for me.  Reply if you have more questions.

I used to shoot a 7615 in our local Highpower Matches and had no problem with the prone rapid fire stage. Works just like a bolt gun prone only you don't have to move one of your hands on the weapon

OH LORD!  All those soldiers and police are in mortal danger over those pump shotguns  ::)

yes but only if you're an actor in an action movie. The rest of us manage just fine
