Toke a nice fat doe with my Handi 257 Roberts at about 250 yards. The deer did not drop but just stood there. When I closed in on it it started to move about 25 yards and stopped again. A final head shot put it down.
The Handi performed flawless with super accuracy. This little rifle handles like a dream. The 100gr Speer Hot core does a good job too.
MV is over 3100 ft not trouble reaching out to 300.
As it was the deer was dieing on its feet, the first shot was behind the front leg 4" up above the brisket. The was considerable damage to the left shoulder.
Sorry there are no pictures it was to wet to bother.
It was a miserable day rain with snow mixed. I have not made much of a dint in my tags supply. My pardner had brought his 9 year old son along so we did not hunt together much. He helped me to put the deer into my Wagoneer. Later I did not feel to hunt another deer on my own, since I have a hard time loading a deer into my Jeep.
Dennis says he needs to go back to work to make some money for Christmas. That means I might have let some of my tags go to waste.
Someone wants the deer but is not offering any help to get them.
