So, what do you think....
« on: November 07, 2008, 09:06:32 AM »
This may not be the place for the most responces, but I know many of us here are reloaders. So I think its pertainant...

Are any of you stocking up on supplies in preperation of large terriffs and limited avalibility of the components we need to reload.

I am of coarse speaking of the president elects claims of large tax's and redused avalibility of firearms, ammunition and reloading components.

Not looking to make this a political post. (Please dont) I'm just kind of thinking allowed wondering what you guys are thinking....

My wife just had me go out and get a couple of more boxes of .44 mag ammo, and I plan to get more primers, powder etc.

I have been buying up some supplies already. I am in fair shape for powder and primers, cases too. I could use some bullets. I was stocking up for a PD hunt next spring, not because of our new situation. Now I am not sure I will be going next spring or not, but will go ahead and get more bullets. I am not sure what a life time supply is, but I may be getting near it in some things.

Thanks Spanky, I'll try the Backwoodsman.  If you say it's good, I know it is.  Yeah, I'm stocking up on stuff ....reluctantly, I find it hard to believe that after more than 200 years we're coming into this kind of crisis.  Well Charleton Heston, Here we go Kid :'(  I think once this crap starts, we need to show up in Public Places, with our guns, unloaded, carried according to law and give them an idea of who they are dealing with.

Spanky, Pete, I agree with Backwoodsman Mag.  Been getting it for a number of years, lots of intresting things in there.  Have the 2 Best Of as well but haven't seen them since we moved.  2 1/2 car garage and haven't been able to park in it since we moved here. ::)    Anyway, I've been stocking up for several years.  I hit every sale I see and buy what I can at Garage sales as well.  Need to do an inventory and get serious on filling in some of what is less than 500 pieces of back stock.  The way we like to shoot, that is a low number for my family.  7 kids and all but the 3 yr old shoots, and he can't wait, threw a real fit when he couldn't go to deer camp with 2 older brothers and myself.  Not liking the next 4 years, think it's gonna get rough.  Nuff said.  DP

Bob, I know things are tough for you right now.  But, I'd USE my guns before I buried them, and save the cost of the pipe, fittings, glue etc. as well as the labor putting them in the ground. Outside of handguns, they really don't know who has what.  Anyone could have sold about anything in a face to face sale with no record.  I wouldn't panic yet.  Obama may have his ideas, but he's got to get the Congress and Senate to go along with them.  That'll give us time to fight.  I'm not threatening the President Elect when I say this, but I have my doubts he'll be vertical on Inauguration Day.

As for me and mine, I grew up with nothing but a .22 rifle (Remington Nylon 76 leveraction) and a .410 single shot, until I had the good fortune to upgrade the shotgun to a .20ga pump. I got to keep my older brother's .22 revolver for a year (my senior high school yr) and fell in love with handguns then.
With that in mind, I still fall back on those guns. I always keep at least 50 rounds of 00 buck and a couple of boxes of both 7 1/2 and 4 shot for the 12 and 20 Mossberg 500s, about 1000 rounds of .22 plinkers and another 100 or so of CCI Stinger .22 LR for hunting. There are a few boxes of .44s (for the Handi that I will pick up the last of this month). Of course since my ccw is usually either a snubbie or KT, I keep a couple boxes of good .38s, .357s, 9s, & .380s. Figure if worst comes, I'll at least have the means to defend my family and provide food for a few months.
For sure Keep Praying that our country's leaders up hold our Constitution and Freedoms.

I just got back from Arizona...they told me at walmart in apache junction( they sell firearms) that they have moved more guns and ammo in the last week than ever before...i think a smart man that wants to shoot better learn to reload if you don't already...stock up on everything you can(particularly primers and powder cuz i think they'll make a run at that stuff, and i personally am thinking about learning to cast bullets or at least get some molds and put them away for the future if necessary)
