A new hastings barrel is gonna cost close to the same as the 870 slug gun so its just a matter of whether or not you want to add a new gun to your arsenal. I recommend the hastings barrel because they are very accurate (I have one on my 870). Either choice will be a good one though because Remington makes high quality products. However my friend and my dad's Remington barrels did have something go wrong with them.  The white that was on the front sight came off and it made it a little difficult to get a sight picture. But if you're gonna use a scope that's a non issue.

If you don't want to scratch that 1100 I would say get a 870 exspress and put the 20" Econo Hastings for $159 on it. The Econo finish matches the exspress perfect.

I say get the new gun.
That way you don't have to do the barrel juggle.  I have a S&W 300 with a couple barrels and I have thought one tube was on it and when I pulled it out to shoot it the 30 inch full will be on it when I'm quail or dove hunting and I wanted the 26" improved or the 28" mod.  Another down side is storing the tubes.  They don't really fit in the safe and tend to fall over.
