6BR and barreltwist rate
« on: August 10, 2003, 12:39:55 PM »
Any one have an Encore barrel in 6BR (6mm Remington Bench Rest)

I would like to know the best twist rate for bullets in the 70 -90 grain range.  No bullet less than 70 grains willl be fired in this barrel nor will bullets  larger than 90 grains.  My current favorite 6mm bullet is the 80 grain Starke Molly coated varmint.

I was thinking 1-12 any suggestions?

i have a 13" stainless VVCG  custom 6br encore barrel with 1 in 12" twist. it does good with 80gr sierra single shot pistol bullets but havn't found anything else it likes as of yet.. i have a 14" factory 6tcu contender which has 1 in 10" twist. it shoots good also, and maybe better. i'd get 1 in 10" twist. i don't think you can over stabilize a bullet. :D

thanks, I'm leaning towards a 20 inch barrel with a 1/12 twist, this should stabilize the 80 graiins bullest but I'm still not sure about the 90's
