i just tried to to fit my 20 ga to my 45-70 and .223 and all 3 barrels fit and functions on all 3 actions.

i was under the immpression that barrels for an sb1 would not fit on an sb2.

i want to expand my barrel collection but i want to make sure they fit and function

Shotgun barrels work fine on SB2 frames, what you may be thinking of using a rifle barrel on an SB1 shotgun frame, that's a no-no. H&R will fit any of their shotgun barrels to your SB2 rifle frame, with the exception of the 10ga based barrels, as long as the frame was made since 1987, please read the accessory barrel page.  ;)

yes i know about them fitting new barrels but after reading some of the threads here i was under the impression that the sb1 frame was longer than the sb2 frame    and all the barrels will fit on any of the frames   and function

Dunno how you got the impression SB1 frames are longer, they aren't, in fact they weight almost identical to an SB2 frame, they have identical dimensions and use the same internal parts, they're just not as strong as an SB2.  The Sidekick muzzleloader frame is shorter than an SB1 Huntsman frame, maybe that's what you're confused about.

thanks    i think that is where i got confused       i think i will get rid of the sb1 frame and keep the 2 sb2 frames    then i will not have to worry about what is mounted on which frame    and i need a huntsman also

Keep your SB1 and put a dedicated ML bbl on it. If ya can't find a used 50 cal here I think the factory still has some SS factory bbl's left but you'll have to check with them for sure.Kurt

Kurt, That is exactly what I did.  I put a factory 24 inch stainless barrel on an SB-1 frame, and It's a shooter.  It jumped right on without any tinkering.
Keep both eyes open and make the first shot good.
