Arisaka Type 38 Rebarrel
« on: November 03, 2008, 11:38:05 AM »
For the life of me I can't find any information as to what the the thread pattern is on this action.  I am wanting to use one of the barrels available from midway for Mauser's if at all possible.  Thanks for any input!

The type 38 Arisaka uses 14tpi. and the type 99 uses 17tpi.Mauser barrels are12tpi.You will have to cut new threads if you want to rebarrel an Arisaka action.

My brother had one re barreled by ER Shaw.  It's now a 260Rem and shoots sub MOA.  The Type 38 is a very strong action but the trigger and safety are horrible.  Alas all is not lost Timney sells a trigger group with a side safety for about $100.
