What is the overall length of a 24" Contender barrel?

This SHOULD be a trick question, but I know it isn't given that I have measured a few barrels lately. Have to wonder what sort of measuring device some of the manufacturers use.

I dont know about Contender barrels, but my Encore 7m-08 is 24"on the knob.

Actually with the barrel removed you should have 24" plus what ever the locking lugs stick out the back. KN

It's that extra little bit I'm curious about. If you removed the barrel from the frame and measured from one end to the other, what would the overall length be.

Ok, now you got MY curiousity peaked. Why do you need to know the precise length with the locking lug?

I'm looking to buy a good case to hold a pair of scoped Contender handguns. Since I may want to turn one into a rifle when my boy is older, I'd like to make the case long enough for a Contender rifle when broken down.

I see, well I haven't looked at it, but from memory, the lug extends about 3/16?, maybe a 1/4", just guessing. But if you put a scope on the rifle barrel, it will add length, and that depends on mount and scope used.
