Taurus Model 62C Pump Action Rifle
« on: August 09, 2003, 06:14:34 PM »
After having used the little Taurus Model 62C (Carbine) for almost 2 years as my son's .22 plinker/trainer, I would like to offer the following comments.
The only problem has been a loose front sight, which I peened into place last fall.
Additionally, this rifle is not one that can easily (if at all) wear a scope.
The accuracy has been acceptable, with the crude open sights being capable of about 1 inch at 25 yards on this rifle with standard Remington, Federal, or Winchester Long Rifle ammo.
The functioning has been flawless.
The trigger is very smooth and wonderfully light.
The durability has been good, and disassembling and cleaning the rifle does not alter its point of impact at 25 yards.
The fit is adequate for an averaged size adult, but fantastic for a 9 year old boy.
As it cost $213, I would recommend it for someone who wants a well made pump action .22 LR rifle, especially for a youth. Its durability and takedown capability have rendered excellent backpacking service.
