Blackhawk vs. Vaquero
«

Does the original Vaquero use the same frame size and cylinder as the N.M. Blachawk; particularly in .357 Magnum? If so, would it then be possible for someone to get a 9mm Blackhawk cylinder and install it in a .357 Vaquero?

the vaquero and the large frame blackhawks are the same. A 9mm cylinder should work but with the fixed sights you wont be able to ajust to the large differnce in point of aim between the two loads. A cylinder may drop right in your gun but sometimes they need fitting. Rugers arent known for consistant building tolarances so its about a crap shoot. i took a 4440 cylinder from a vaquero and it dropped right in my 44 mag super.

Thanks. The reason I asked is that my oldest inherited a couple 9mm semi-autos but he's into "old-style" revolvers (black powder mostly) and western stuff. He couldn't get an answer from the local gun dealer. It would be a one-way conversion to 9mm so the difference in sight alignment isn't a problem.
