I made my own cup point punches by just using a dremel stone on the appropriate sized pin punch, follow Raynor's or Perklo's trigger hone info in the FAQs. I also use a plexi template over the frame to protect it, that's in the FAQs too.

I use a 6# finish nail punch (which is hollow ground on the tip) to get them started out and drive home. They are hard, but I do not mar the pins up using it and I have not broken one either. When driving them out I finish driving them with an appropriate sized nail that the point has been ground down on because the nail punch is tapered and will not go all the way through. If I bend the nail, I just get another one. I use soft pine blocks to make a bridge (gap) to get the frame off the bench and have room to drive the pins through and it softens the blows so the frame does not bounce up and down as I pound. I have never had a nail punch slip off to mar the surface, but I keep a good grip on it so it does not slip off when I am pounding it. Tim's set up sounds sweet and if I did a lot of them like he does, I would make a set up similar to his.

Make sure you are driving them out of the correct side, They should only come out one way. Sorry but I can't remember which way. 8)

The pins have to be knocked out to the left, they're splined on that side, all of that is explained in the trigger links with lots of pics, trigger jobs are so easy, even a caveman could do one!! ;D

That would be a real sharp caveman. I used my arbor press to lossen the pins then i drove them the rest of the way by hand.

i didnt know the hing pin could be taken out.  i guess like all the others?  i for a while i thought the action was bullet proof, no one could get in or out, lol.  i guess they can be completly taken down with just simple tools...

If you take out the hinge pin, don't you have to put it back in with the same orientation it came out?

Yes, if a hinge pin is removed, it must be indexed so it can be replaced in the same position, one member removed it on a new rifle for cleaning and had to return it to H&R for refitting!!  :(

I've knocked two of em out, one was on a frame that I completely refinished and blued, and the other was one than had been used for an experimental bench gun that was drilled and tapped. Both were bought used as frames only and I fitted barrels to them.

I also tried to fit a barrel by just turning the pin to a different position, but that didn't work on that particular barrel.
