How many of you carry concealed with a double action revolver? Better yet, how many of you practice in the double action mode, and how much do you feel you need to practice in that mode to remain proficient?

......I agree with the other post...I shoot mine D/A almost every shot and I dry fire and pratice the draw of the gun on a regular basis.......once you get the routine of the D/A trigger control and the grip for that gun/stocks formed in your muscles it takes much less pratice to keep decent shot placement and performance......BUT getting to that point takes a lot of work and lead downrange....I shot revolvers in competition for several years .PPC and tens of thousands of rounds in pratice.......as to amount and time frame of pratice..the paper will tell you....when you can't place the first cly full in the desired location from a realistic position and distance....according to your situation..then you need MORE pratice.....s/a work mainly test your sight alignment and the guns mechanical accuracy....for load testing and similar uses........I've seen shooters that shot better 50yd groups shooting D/A instead of S/A....HTH good luck and good shooting!!

I only shoot single action for hunting. I practice and shoot DA for self defence. Dave

L-Roy: I'm with Dave in WV. I will practice single action shooting with my 357 and 44 magnums, but go with double action practice with my 38 snubbie carry gun.

Sometimes, just sometimes, I will double action one of the larger ones to see if I can keep it in the breadbasket at hunting ranges out to 50 yds, but it is a slow and easy trigger pull. With the carry gun I will plat the front sight where I want the bullet to hit and shoot double taps at double action until I am comfortable with how I'm shooting.

As regards a DA/SA vs DAO revolver, I feel the DA/SA is smoother and I'm more comfortable, and more accurate with that style trigger. Mikey.

Well, I guess I'll be practicing my DA pull dry firing with snap caps with my wife's new Taurus titanium snubby.

It's already pretty smooth but working the action always seems to help. :wink: Dave
