my dad has a weatherby vanguard (basically the same thing as a howa) i think he uses the federal powershok. i would try any of the standard stuff first like federal powershok or remington coreloks. just make sure your using a deer bullet (if thats what your hunting)
common sense is slowly becoming uncommon

I own a Howa .243 and have killed three deer with this rifle. The Black Hills Gold SST round is by far the most accurate, but the Federal Fusion 95 grain round is what I use now. The ballistic tip bullets do not hold together. I have tried about a dozen different commercial rounds and the two above have been the best. My rifle is the ultra light with a 20 inch barrel and is my favorite rifle.

I think i own the same rifle my profile pic is my howa the stock came black but i sanded and stained it i think it looks better. But i will try the rounds you recomended, also have you ever shot enough rounds to cause it to heat up enough to make them rather innacurate? Ill tell you what for the price i think the 1500 is about the best buy out there very good quality.

I have shot my rifle a good bit and two rounds are about all I can get before the barrel gets hot. These two rounds are usually about 30 seconds apart. With a hot barrel the POI changes. I let it cool upright with the bolt open. My rifle has a black wood stock that appears to be plastic. I did sand the barrel channel out to float the barrel. It may have helped, but I think I just found the right ammo. Hope you enjoy your Howa as much as I do.

I know the guys over snipercentral really like them.  Mele builds his entry level rifles off the 1500 action...
They claim the tolerances for the 1500 action are tighter than the 700 actions...
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."
