My son's new Handi Rifle
« on: October 11, 2008, 01:49:48 AM »
Went yesterday and got the boy a new handi .44 mag.  Some of you remember my post about the boy using a handi .30-06, in Africa this summer, well looks like he'll be using one for deer season, here in Indiana[they passed a pistol caliber rifle season here last year].  Long story short, the gun sighted in like a dream, we used some win.USA white box to sight in, then tried some leverevolution ammo, which shot great thru it.  He shot the best groups with that lil gun, he has ever shot.  Soo, looks like deer season, he'll be using a .44 handi, and I'll be using a Marlin 1894 .44 mag, and we'll both be using the LE ammo.  Next year I'll prolly reload for them, but for now the LE ammo looks great!

Now back to the win. white box ammo.  Man do I have a major bi**h about that stuff >:(!  We both have fired it thru our new rifles, and in both instances we have wound up with about 20% split cases!  I would like to get ahold of their QC dept. and have a little chat.  In all the years I have used factory ammo, I never had this problem before.  If somebody that reads this post knows how to get ahold of the right person, there, I'd like to know.

I'm shooting the same combo.  A handi-rifle in .44 mag with the leverevolution ammo.  I'm really looking forward to deer season!

BTW, I've shot the White box winchester ammo too.  While the cases did look very sooty, extraction was fine and the cases didn't split.  FWIW.

Congrats on the new 44mag! Sounds like bad brass, they have an online email resource to contact them.  ;)

I also picked up a box of that LE stuff...  Loaded up a couple boxes of my fav Speer GD's and will be heading to the range soon to try them out. Gotta "wring" out the Sahkari!!

GOOD to hear the accuracy with the LE!!

Congrats on the 44 mag.  Most of them seem to shoot very well since they were made by Marlin.  Mine does better than I can with the open sights.  Have never tryed the Winchester, I handload mine.  With Carbide dies, the straight cased pistol rounds are easy to reload.  DP
