45LC
« on: October 10, 2008, 06:21:40 AM »
Just picked up a Buffalo Classic 45 LC a few days ago.  Haven't loaded for this cartridge before or really paid much attention to it.  Question I have is the H&R action strong enough to handle load data printed separately for the Ruger and Contender guns?  My thoughts are it is but I can't find any data to support that.

Yes, that's all I shot in mine before I rechambered it to 460S&W. The SB2 BC frame is the same as any other current production SB2 rifle, they're factory chambered in 270Win and 500S&W and other chamberings that the Contender could only dream of, both operate at close to double the pressure of 45colt +P pressures. ;)

Appreciate the quick response.  Looking forward to playing around with this rifle.  Saw your reply over at the Marlin site also.  Thought it wouldn't hurt to ask at both locations to see if there were agreeing opinions.  Again thanks..............

Let me tell ya the Ruger loads out of a rifle are impressive especialy when you get up to the 300gr and above loads. ;D Out to 100 yards I would not feel undergunned for anything in North America.

250gr jacketed bullets are good to well over 1900fps with Lil'gun from the 20" BC carbine using Hodgdon data, but they get over 2600fps from the 460 w/H110!  ;D

I like all my pistol chambered rifles, but the 45 colt is a favorite of mine.  "Can you say mini 45-70 boys and girls?"   ;)  DP

Wow.. I didn't realize you could push them that hard.  I got a 250gr up to 1600 with my 1894CB and H110 but backed off.

Why did you choose the 460 over the 454?

Same reason I didn't settle for the 45-90/100/110 and went with the 45-120!! ;D The reamer cost wasn't any less, but I did have to wait several months for it cuz Fred didn't have one yet.
