Too busy to play
« on: September 30, 2008, 05:38:58 AM »
I was hoping to have a report on how my .444 shot by this week, but things just didn't work out. For the past 3 weeks I have been working 12-14hrs a day & having to get up at 0230. I never had a chance to bore-sight it, so Saturday I dropped it off to get it bore-sighted by a buddy. I picked it up yesterday & hope by the weekend I'll have a story to tell. At least I'm back to a normal 10hr day.The overtime is nice with holidays coming up, but you still need play-time.

1. It is good to hear some one is working too much now days, it is better than the alternative. ;)
2. I got up at 02:30 this AM so I could be at work by 03:30 to open the building, had to fill in for the first shift Supervisor today. I know what it is like. I had to go to bed at 19:00 hours last night :( I go from regular hours to first shift then second shift 14:00 to 24:00 and then back to my regular hours, I just can't get used to it. :-\
3. I also have a 444 and have not got to it yet, for much the same reasons as you. I have taken what little time I have and have been putting it in other projects, lately a 357 Max.
4. A range report is mandatory; I am looking forward to it ;D
5. Just a FYI - I looked up Handis recently on a site that deals with retailers and they were out of 444 Marlins in every flavor, including a SS thumb hole model (yes in 444). They had 45-70's including the new SS Thumb hole in stock. Not sure if they under estimated the 444 market or the 45-70 are not selling as well as they hoped.
Great men have vision and resolve to make dreams come true.

The owner of the place where I bought my .444, told me that last year everyone wanted 45-70's, but this year he can't keep .444's in stock. Since LA started allowing Handi's to be used during Primitive Season he said he hasn't sold many muzzleloaders, but can't keep Handi's in stock. I talked to him yesterday & he was able to get 6 .444's from 4 different suppliers. 3 wood & 3 synthetic.

As it's looking now, I should be able to sight it in the weekend along with my son's 270, stepson & daughter-in-law's rifles & put the wife's 4-wheeler back together. Just a typical weekend.
