I was just curious if anyone has heard when these may be hitting the stores.... I want one real bad...lol

Stump, I was not aware of a new 35 Rem coming out. I hope I'm wrong and there factory produced again. I believe the caliber was discontinued. From what I've read here, you need to get yourself a SB2-357 mag and have it done for you by a gunsmith. -g

That would be great. I see on the same page for ableammo.com there is 7mag SS Syn listed too. Is that going to happen? Personally I would rather have the 35 Remington.

The 7mm and 300 mags were cancelled in January as stated many times in numerous previous threads, they were on price sheets last fall and many dealers don't have a clue about their cancellation. If you look at Able's and Buds H&R listings, you'll find models that haven't been made in years like the Ultracomp. The 35 Rem is a new offering inspired by the .35 minimum caliber for the Mississippi "primitive" season, just as the 357 and 44 mag SB1s and combos were created for the Indiana pistol caliber deer hunters, H&R/Remington are market sensitive just like any other business and will take advantage of opportunity when it knocks, it's just too bad dealers didn't pre-order more of the Handi-mags, they may have reached production too.

I knew they were canceled at the first of the year by Marlin

I thought maybe since the Remington take over and it being 7mm REMINGTON mag they changed their minds.

Your explanation makes sense to me on the 35 Remington.

Any time line as to when the 35rem will be available as an accessory barrel? I was going to look for a 357 to ream, but may just wait and see.

I wouldn't expect it until they get lots of the rifles on the market, traditionally it's been several months after the rifle release before the accessory barrel is available. But with Remington running the shop, it's hard telling what they'll do, it wouldn't hurt to call and ask em.

That will save one of my 357 mag barrels for the kids. I called again today to check the status on the 2 frames I sent off 6-13-08, and was told they were to be shipped out on the truck today, (Monday is the "truck day" for them), has to go back to Gardner first so, will see how much longer I have to wait. Had also ordered 3 rails and extensions as well as 2 plastic stock and trigger work. Got my fingers crossed $:-\$ . DP

Great news! This is the first I've heard of the 35 Remington being factory chambered in the Handi's.

I found one of the new style 357's for $200, but I don't know if I really want it with the possibility of a SB235R hitting the market soon.

I had a friend call H&R asking about them... The lady that answered the phone said there was talk about them but they haven't went into production... So who knows...

I'm not trying to start anything here, but what exactly is the appeal of the 35 rem?

I checked the Rem. ballistics site, and the 30-30 and 35 are very similar with a slight advantage going toward the 30-30 in the 150 grain bullet.

The 35 does offer a 200 grain bullet, but taking the availability factor, and the fact that you can find very cheap 30-30 ammo almost anywhere on the planet it makes me wonder why would you want a 35 rem?

What am I missing here?

If you need something that shoots bigger than 170 grains, there's already the proven 45-70.

The 35 rem out of my marlin hits thing real hard with the 200's and doesn't kick much as well. A very well mannered, well rounded cartridge. I'd rather smack a bear with it than a 30-30. DP

Part of the appeal is that it is legal for the Mississippi primitive arms season. I think that i will stick with my 45-70 but if the 35 rem becomes avaliable, I would probably try one.

Able Ammo removed the 35 Rem from their site, that's not encouraging. I emailed my Marlin contact for info, but he's in the middle of a move to Madison for a new position, so I may not get a reply soon.

I've got my .30-30, .30-06, .270, 7mm-08, .308, .357, and most of all, my .45-70. Why would I want another Deer Rifle to feed and nurture??

I asked one of our shops down here that sells a lot of handis and they said next year. I hope so, because I can't shoot my wheelen bolt in Mississippi for primitive arms.

I have a .35 Remington Handi that Wayne did for me, and a great job it is. I have used a .35 Remington for deer hunting in the Northeast for over 3 decades now and I have to tell you, the .35 Remington is one of these cartirdges that are inherently accurate, don't kick much for how much they deliver on the recieving end and kill all out of proportion to what the paper stats say. Try it, you will like it. My Marlin 336 in .35 Remington has kept me in deer meat with one shot kills for over 30 years now and I expect my .35 Remington chambered Handi to do just as well. That said, my son still has his first 30-30 Winchester chambered Marlin 336 with the reciever peep sights he requested at age 14 (his first one shot deer kill that year), and it has never failed him....<><....

My .30-30 336 is fifty years old now and looks and shoots like it just came off the shelf. I can't tell you how many deer went in the freezer during that time. Lots, I'm sure. It's kind of neglected now, cause I'm a self confessed Handiholic.

I got some tolerance specs on the 35 Rem barrels, they'll probably be buttoned by Marlin using their tooling, which I think means they'll have micro-groove rifling, but I don't know that for sure, and I haven't got the production schedule yet, should have that in the next week or two.

Bad News!

Due to the Gardner closing and plant move, the 35 Rem didn't make it into the production schedule this year and just like the Handi-mags, there haven't been enough distributor pre-orders to make it happen so it's not been scheduled for 2009 production. The only way it will be produced is if distributors place enough orders for it, so that means having your dealers contact distributors to ask for it if you want one.
