Yup Had me one today.... Went to the range ..With my almost new NEF .22Mag heavy barrel Leupold VXII 3X9 on top.. I had removed the scope because I didnt like the ring's I had used..So I changed them for Warne rings..My favorite... I had my new DFT lead sled..with ms so I knew that the flier's wouldnt be all my fault... No boresighting..just had my fingers crossed..sure enough first round...16 clicks right ant 8 clicks up..WALLA!!! oops then 8 clicks back to the left..and Walla!! Center and 1 inch high...uh oh some movement inthe head of the Lead Sled..OK loos screw from the factory. ( I had just assembled this) at the range... So now for some serious groups here... 3 shott half inch low and touching..cool...This is better than I had hoped for...shot some more groups...seem to keep getting 3 touching and 2 flier's...hmmmm. So I keep shooting and things just arent tightening up liked I wanted them to...HMMM some more..a little wind here maybe 5 mph or so So I am holding my breath ane waiting for the breeze to stop..then relax and squeeze... 3 touching and 2 flier's....So I get a quarter out and it will cover most groups...Not bad but not what I was working for..HMMMM some more Then the wind start's to blow more often..not harder just more often...and I keep getting pretty good groups..so I think it is the wind and I get ready to pack up and go home..As I was looking at the rear of my scope..WALLA... I had the dern thing turned down to 3 power... Seem's as though I done this while remounting the scope..So as to get the cross hair's level.. Now my chest puff's all out and I am feeling pretty smug about this Oh Yeah ..Quarter size group's on three power @ 50 yds.... Now were cookin..I turn the scope up to 9X...3 touching and 2 flier's..HHMMM a lot now...But the flier's were a whole lot closer to the group..and the wind was worse ..and my eye's were a little tired...and I was a little frustrated... But it sure was a nice day at the range.. Could'nt have asked him for any more...And I really did learn somethnig today... The wind has a LOT more effect on a bullet than I ever thought it did. Even at 50 yds... It really push's them little 30 and 33 gr bullet's around. But I sure had fun. And I think I am really going to love my new littls squirrel rifle. Drop
