I just ordered a barrel for one of my Stevens 200. I was going to get a 204, but untimely I decided to get another 223. I ordered a Shilen 26" Bull Select/Match grade SS with 14" ratchet rifling and a .246 neck. I sent in 2 dummies with 40 grain V-Max bullets to chamber the throat. I plan on pushing 40 V Max or 40 Noslers to 3800 fps or so for a medium range varmint rig (out to 400 yards). For this project I have a Choate Tactical/varmint stock and going to get a Bushnell Elite 3200 10X Tactical scope. I already have a Rifle Basix trigger, SS flat ground recoil lug and SS BT bolt handle. In the scheme of things, I think the Shilen barrels are very reasonably priced. I did a lot of shopping before I decided to get the Shilen. Now I have to wait - a long while

I haven't decided to send in the action to get trued or not. I have heard that it is a waste of money with a Savage action and then I have heard that it is worth it. I have plenty of time to get it done before the barrel gets here. What do you guys think?
