Wesson Harrington..same as NEF?
« on: September 23, 2008, 02:05:20 AM »
I have a chance to pick up a Wesson Harrington 38-55, cut checkering, 28" target barrel, lyman tang and front site etc..pretty nice.
Is the the same as the BC NEF?  If so, when was it made?  How is the quality, accuracy etc.  The rifle is like new but I suspect it is a few years old.
Thanks,
Dana

It is the same. You can check your serial number against the list in the FAQs to find the Year it was made. _ Pete

The Wesson & Harrington was made before Marlin bought H&R in 2000, they have WH(Wesson & Harrington) serial number prefixes, so the FAQs won't help. H&R Gardner had documents to determine when it was made by the number itself, but apparently Remington doesn't have or know how to look it up....yet. What you can find in the FAQs is how to load for the 38-55, those made before 2007 required .381" and larger bullets but the chamber neck wouldn't chamber a bullet that big, so the neck will have to be reamed and will be limited to cast bullets since no one makes jacketed bullets that big. :-\
