spare tags
« on: September 17, 2008, 12:29:57 PM »
Has anyone ever applied for left over deer tags? I filled out an on line application. I hope I filled it out correctly. I can't find any way to check on the status of my application. Anyone ever done this?

No Sir, I have never done this.
I would be interested in that link again though as I have lost it and cant find it in the back post's. I have regular & late covered but may need to horn in on the Muzzle loader season just to get more avalible dates to hunt. I am basically well now barring a recovery period...I might option out of my current job as I am looking at two others. Hard telling where I might be or
What I might be doing come November.

Here's the Illinois dnr site:

http://dnr.state.il.us/

Click on hunting and follow the links. It will give you a list of available tags and which counties they ae for.

Thank You Sir, You would think that I would have known that link but Springfield is just a 30min ride away on the Scooter and I will just go in there for the most part.
I have not been up to that for the last few months but things will get better soon!

I got a ML tag left over for Henry county.  There is a place on the DNR website where you can check the status of your tags.

I've used the one for the regular season, but I can't find the one for left over tags.

Last year I lost my tags before first season.  I had to write for duplicate tags.  They said it would be 3 weeks.  But they got to me within a week.  I guess it is just how busy they are in Springfield.

When I get those tags, I usually drop everything and put them in a lock box here in the house.

I put mine in a zip lock bag in my back pack along with a copy of my hunting liscense. I always take the back pack with me when I go hunting so I always have my tags and liscense with me also.

I got screwed.  I got a refund check for my tag while I was in CO elk hunting.  Online it said I got a tag and it would mail on Sept 22.  Now it is changed saying I didn't draw.  I applied online the first day tags became available.
