i have a single shot winchester model 37 full choke. i was wondering if cutting the barrel down to 20 inches would remove all of the choke. i would like to convert to a slug only rig. any input would be greatly appreiciated, thanks.

Taking off about 4" will remove all the choke perhaps even three inches would. The old Model 37s have become quite collectable these days are you sure you really want to take that collector value to zero?

GB is right.
I have a Model 37 and they are quite collectible, not to mention very good shotguns.
You could always sell it to finance a new one.
