I examined one of these in .30-06 this weekend at the Destin BassPro Shop. It could have been hung on the wall in an art museum but it belonged on the plains of Africa, the dense woods of Maine, or perhaps in a shooting house in southern Alabama on a cool Fall morning. It felt amazing when you shouldered it. It was one awesome piece of work.

I think if a person could only have one hunting rifle, it wouldn't be a bad choice.

At over $1000.00 out the door, not anytime soon. I already have a new 700 ADL in .30-06, and I just picked up a new CDL stock. I can't justify buying another.

I've looked at them several times. Then I have to get a towel and wipe the drool off of the gun.

It's definitely the sweetest rifle Remington's ever put out. I just cringe at the thought of scratching up a nice walnut stock though. I haven't heard any reports of how they're shooting though...(yes Swampman, I know it's a Remington and will shoot MOA out of the box, LOL).

I've really been wanting a .260 to play with and they chamber it for this rifle. But one in 30-06 would be the ultimate "ONE" rifle for any hunting that I'll every realistically do.

I have a hard time deciding which I like the best, the CDL SF or the Boone & Crockett with the blued fluted barrel and laminate stock.

I think one day I'll own the Boone & Crockett in .30-06. It's a great looking rifle, and worth the money IMO.

I have one, construction looks flawless to me,stock is nice, could use higher comb, had no problem getting sub moa groups with 120 grain bullets, I'm going to use the rifle for sporter rifle comp and metallic silhouette, taking it to western NY next week for deer.

I only own one CDL SF. It is Remington .30-06 100th Anniversary Edition and I can't bring myself to shoot it even though I argue against buying dust collectors.

Swampman, if you can still find one of those, it wouldn't cost you $1000 today. Whether you would want to shoot a Comemorative is another story. But it is still a CDL SF.

I bought another Limited Edition Remington Comemorative a few weeks later, a 1:100 LSFP BLK with a Laser Engraved Stock, which is a nicer lookin rifle IMO. Kind of favors a Mtn Rifle.

I got one of the 260 limited editions this summer. One of the worse rifles I have got from Remington. problems 1. Just in front of the writing on the barrel the fluting was deeper and wider for about 1/2 inch in all flutes around the barrel and tool marks in the flutes. 2. Accuracy, bad, over 150 rounds through the barrel and nothing shot near to 1 min of angle, everything was 2 min +. 3. Cast and found chamber was crooked, two of the lands went through the lead or free bore to the point where the case mouth would be. Sent to Rem and they returned saying the fluting was up to spec. and something about finish ream on the chamber. I recast the chamber and the measurements were the same and it looked the same and shot the same. I called Rem and have sent it back a second time and they have it now. We will see what they do this time. In the past they have always fixed what was wrong being a barrel or action.

Even in our bad economy, an investment in a quality rifle should hold its value. The same can be said for a quality scope. That said, you have to take care of the rifle. Once it is damaged or modified, the value goes away.

I have many Remingtons and I have found them to be very good investments. I question the price of the Titanium 700, but I expect time will prove that those rifles hold or increase in value just as the others. I've never held one in my hands. Though it is a light weight rifle, I can't imagine it is that much better than a Model 7 or a Mountain rifle. Please send me one so I can make up my mind.

WOW! This post has done nothing to calm my nerves!

I just received a CDL SF in 260 yesterday. I mounted Talley rings on it, and decided to have it floated and bedded (I do this to all my rifles). Now on most of my rifles I do this myself, but this time I decided to take it to a reputible gun smith and have the work done. While signning in the gun at the store, I mentioned that I hadn't even fired the gun, but decided to have it bedded. He then started inspecting the bore with a loupe and light and asked, "say you have never fired this gun?". He stated there was a lot of fowling in the barrel and put a note on the work order to have the smith check the barrel with a bore scope before doing any work on it. He informed me that they got a gun from Remington a few weeks earlier that had NO riffling in the barrel and was key holing at 25 yards! I always clean a new rifle before I fire it the first time. I have always had very good guns from Remington, so please don't tell me th've gone to pot! The exterior of the gun is flawless and I expect it to shoot like other Remington 700s I have had in the past! I guess I'll have to just wait and see if he calls and says "I wouldn't touch that one with a 10 foot pole" or go pick up a bedded rifle in a few weeks!

Don't worry ThunderStick, it's going to be fine. There is always carbon in the barrel of a new gun because most every manufacturer fires the weapon before it leaves the factory to make sure it is working properly, albeit I don't have a clue about the non-rifled keyholer you mentioned in your post. Even if there was something drastically wrong with your rifle, Remington would take it back and fix it for you or maybe even give you another brand new rifle as a replacement. I'm betting though that your rifle is just fine the way it is and will give you a lifetime of quality service.

Most folks are way too anal about cleaning. It ruins a lot of guns.

Even though i haden't cleaned it, I did look down the bore and it looked fine to me, but a little dirty. Of course I didn't even look for throating issues. I was suprised at how well the rifle felt when shouldering, natural and lighter than I expected. I had been looking for one of these for a while and had just about decided to go with the model 7 in .260 when the CDL popped up at a supplier. I'm sure it will be fine, it just unnerved me a bit!

I FINALLY........got the new baby home today! I brought it in mounted the scope and cleaned the barrell. Loaded up the van and headed off to the range to do the break in. I went with a box of Rem. 140gr for the break in. After spending around an hour or more on the break in/ cleaning procedure. I finally started to shoot some groups. The first real group with the factory loads, around 1 1/4 inch at 100 yards! I then started with some hand loads, straight from the manual, just to see. After another good cleaning, I setteled into some groups. First off I could sure tell the difference in the 140 vs 120gr loading! The first group went around 2 1/2 but after a few more groups the load setteled in at about 1 3/4 with a horazontal string on the groups. I have a need to blame this on the wind and the random handloads. She does indeed look like she will be a shooter!

Now to do a little experementing with the hand loads and she should be good to go!

That doesn't seem to be a sub-moa rifle "out-of-the-box" now does it?

No offense ThunderStick, it looks like it'll be a great shooter and should only get better with time. I'd love to have one myself and I'd always be happy with 1 1/4" groups out of a rifle with a sporter-weight fluted barrel. Good shooting.

MOA rite outa the box? Who knows, I never fired a round through it before floating and bedding. I know my .243 Vanguard is picky about loads. One load will give 3 inches and another will give 1/2 inch, it realy depends. I found that the Limb Saver Barrell deresonator would allow me to adjust any handload to shoot 1/2 in that rifle just by where it was placed on the barrell. It sure messes up the lines of a fine rifle though!

Once in a while you will get a rifle that is accurate with just about anything you stuff in it. I have a CZ .223 that shoots just about any hand load from 45gr to 60gr inside 1 inch!

Don't get me wrong, ThunderStick, I understand that rifles can vary greatly in their load preference and accuracy. I'm just ribbing swampman about his insistence that every remington will always shoot sub-moa out-of-the-box and that any other rifle is sub-standard compared to that.

I almost hate to resurect an old topic, but deer season is upon us here in Tennessee.

As of yesterday morning the 700 CDL SF 260Rem shooting a hand loaded 120 Nosler accutip is 5 shots, 5 kills. The ranges where 20 yards, 40 yards, 30 yards, 75 yards and 325 yards. All lung shots, all ran from 25-100 yards. All run with the lung shot, but I never lose very much meat with that shot.

I ordered mine kinda late and havent had time to sight it in yet .
They are nice rifles and Rem's doing a great job on these.
