12 GA SST SHOTGUN SLUG
« on: September 15, 2008, 03:08:59 PM »
Quick question on this slug. Is it 2 3/4 or 3"? Hornady doesn't list it on their site. Anyone have any recommendations for ammo for a savage 210 slug gun? I heard there are ejection problems with the 2 3/4 shells. Thanks.

Wolf,
They are 2 3/4 inch. I switched to these from Winchester Supremes for my Browning BPS slug gun and it was the best move I ever made. Believe it or not I can get 1 1/2 groups at 100 yards on a good day. They are kind of pricey but I think they are well worth it. Remington now has the new Accutip slug out also. May pick up a box to try. Everything I have read about them is very positive. Biglefthander.

The Hornady's are 2 3/4.

As for the Savage, I had one that shot the 2 3/4 Remington solid coppers with great accuracy, and I did not have a problem with ejection at all.

I have one it shoots the remington ultra corelokts great. Tried the hornady sst's they were all over the place. Another one that shoots great is the winchester partition gold either in 2 3/4" or the 3" both shoot great out of mine. Good luck.

Forgot to add, in my slugguns the Hornady SST's did not perform well at all. I tried them in my Remington 870, Remington 1100 and my Beretta Extrema.  I never could get a good group at all.
