Report on the Umarex Walther CP-88 pistol.
« on: July 31, 2003, 04:19:44 PM »
Last December I had asked the readers of this Greybeard Outdoors forum about the CO2 pellet Smith and Wesson revolvers.  One person asked me to get back on the results of shooting one, well it did not happen because I did not buy one for the following reason... I had a Umarex Walther CP-88 pistol, nickel finish, 6" barrel, bought during the Summer of 2000 that I thought alot of at the time, until I noticed a problem.

I finally sold it as the hammer was of a soft metal.  You could see where the impact with the steel firing rod in the frame was slowly putting a deep pronounced circular shaped indent into it.  Seems odd that Walther did not use steel on an impact part like that.  The rest of the pistol seemed heavy duty in construction.  The pistol was accurate and it saw alot of use.  The retail on it at the time was $220.00.  I would have liked to see more thought into the quality of materials for that kind of money! :x

I think AGE closed them out at $79 a while back. I bought one and sent it back about as soon as I got it.  No comparison to the S&W revolver which I think is as good as it gets in the CO2 realm.  Works and looks just like the real one.
