I'm gradually building back what was a very nice collection until a roommate stole it from me. I lost two 6" 686s, a 4" Model 68, a Ruger GP100 6" with red dot scope, and a Ruger Blackhawk - all SS in .357. I recently picked up a LNIB 619 from a retired LEO and like the gun a lot. The 620 looks like an L-frame equivalent of my old M68 in .357. I want something with adjustable sights and the only real difference I can see between the 620 and the 686P is full versus partial underlug - they are both L-frame and 7 shot. I liked the 686s for range/target shooting, but preferred the GP100 for hunting (3 deer taken with it so far.)
Anyone have experience with both guns in 4"? I loved the way both 686s and the 68 felt, and could shoot groups every bit as tight with the 4" barrel as with the 6"s until I got out well past 25 yards. I know I can't go wrong with either gun, but at $600+ a pop I don't want to be wishing I had bought the "other one" in a few weeks.
