Savage 16BGH info wanted
« on: August 25, 2008, 08:51:36 AM »
I have a Savage rifle Model 16BGH that I can't find any historical information on. I think it might have been a special run for a distributor. The fellow I got it from said he thought the distributor's name was "Henry".

It is a newer rifle and has the Accutrigger. The barreled action is stainless. The barrel is 22" long and is fluted. Looks like a medium, tapered contour. The stock is dark gray synthetic. Looks completely factory to me. Caliber is .243 Winchester.

Reminds me of Remington's LV SF.

If anyone has ever seen one of these, or has one, or knows anything about this particular model, please share whatever info you have with me.

Thanks,

Mark

I've got one in a 300 WSM but has a 24" barrel.  It has a fluted medium heavy barrel and shoots good.  I bought mine at a local store in Pierre, SD and is the only place I've ever seen one.

Yes pikeon, that sounds like the one. Great rifles! Wish I knew a little more about this model.

Thanks,

Mark

Henery's is a larg outdoor distributor. It was most likley a special run for them. Chances are that better than half of what you buy for the outdoors comes through them.
