Loading Lyman 2 3/4" 20 Gauge Sabot Slugs
« on: August 24, 2008, 05:06:25 AM »
Hope someone can help... have been casting and reloading 12 Gauge Lyman sabots for a few years... great slug... no problems..
20 Gauge 2 3/4 is a different story... having a problem with the final assembly... crushing the hulls when trying to complete crimp.l  I'm using Lyman data sent with mould... AA hulls, SPS20 wads and 25 gr. SR4756...    Does anyone have success reloading the 20 gauge sabot?

I would try Fiocchi, Cheddite, or any available hull if I knew the wad/powder info that would work...

I appreciate any help provided..

Thanks,

The Moose ???

I reload my slugs with rem target RTL and rem SP unibody plastic with no problems, you could check your final crimp station for correct adjustment for the type of hull your using. Dan

RangerWillie,

What wads and powder do you use with your loads?  I just shot the AA's with Sps20 wads using Sr4756 this morning... not pretty!  Had problems with crimping.. got around 4" groups @ 50 yds... wrote off as failure...
