30-30 to 38-55 conversion barrel for post 64 winnie model 94
« on: August 22, 2008, 08:13:47 AM »
I saw a thread on another site discussing an octagon barrel available from e-gunparts.com and wanted to know if anyone has done this and what all was involved in making this work. It says that hardware and sights are not included and I was wondering what additional hardware would be necessary and and which sights would work.

Do you have any contact info for Jess Ocumpaugh?
Does he have a web site?

 Pumah 25,

I did exactly this .30/30 to .38/55 conversion a few years ago. Gun parts corp sold an entire "kit" the longer octagon barrel, the forend, half magazine tube with spring, and forend cap with screws.

I found a '70's winchester at a pawn shop that had a rusted and pitted barrel (just neglect) and put the parts on the receiver. It worked out real good, nice smooth function and a darned good shooter too.

look at Gunparts /Numrich arms and see if they still have the kits, having all the parts to just assemle made it easy.

Don't want to highjack here but can a marlin 336 .30-30 be rebarrled to .38-55? or rebored maybe?
