Barrel Program NEF/Remington SS 45/70

Don't know if this is old news, but...  Under the new rules for the Barrel Program only those barrels, stocks, and accessories that have been released to the Barrel Program will be available for fitting.   New barrels like the SS 45/70 are not available through the barrel program/repair.   Ed at the new CS said Gardner was able to fit new barrels since production and repair/barrel program were considered the same stream, but Remington has these setup as 2 different streams and Barrel Program/repair is unable to get any items from production until they are released to them.  I had a SS 45/70 barrel ordered from Gardner in June which was sent to Ilion for fitting and Ed and Daniel were able to chase down why barrel order had not been filled for the above reasons.  Ed wasn't sure when the SS 45/70 would be released to the barrel program/repair, but he was guessing it would be months.               John.

That's nothing new, new rifle offerings such as the SS 45-70 have never been available in the accessory barrel program until well after the complete rifle has been on the market for a while. With the frame of the 45-70 Ultra being new and the Boyd's t-hole stock being in short supply to begin with, I don't see it being available for quite a while as an accessory barrel, all production will go towards complete rifles, most likely until next year sometime.

Sorry, but that's the way it's always been.

Thanks, at least I got the old news right.  I called Gardner CS to check that my frame had been received before the June cutoff date in June and that's when CS in Gardner added the SS 45/70 they said they had them on hand and would fit one.  That's where my confusion comes in, at least this part of my confusion.   Ed at NEF thought the release of the SS 45/70 barrel could be a few months out, but that's not definite.
