Thinking about a new fourwheeler...

I looked at a Praire 400 a couple of weeks ago.  It looked pretty nice and I thought the lever by the rear brake to lock the front differential was a good idea (they all might have this now, don't look at them much).  Also looked at a Honda Rancher that looked good.  It had the transmission that you could use as an automatic or use the electronic manual shift.  All that sounds like a lot of stuff that could go bad.

I ended up buying a used Grizzly from a friend, bigger than I need but it was in excellent condition.

Hey Chris,  go to www.atvconnection.com and go to the link on the left that says reviews.   There you will find reviews of ATV's from all of the major brands.  Be advised that they do lean a bit more favorably towards performance than utility,  but overall have great info there.

My personal opinion for a 400 cc quad if you are looking for a basic work machine would be a Yamaha Big Bear,  then a Honda, and Artic Cat 400.  THe Artic Cat will give you more ground clearance and rack capacity than others in the same class as well as have Suzuki built engines and tranny's on most of their quads.  Can't hardly go wrong with a Suzuki engine.
