Newbe saying hi
« on: August 05, 2008, 08:37:06 AM »
Hello,
I have been looking for a forum where I can talk about H & R's for a while now and finally stumbled upon this one.  I have a Ultra varminter .243 w/ thumb hole stock and love it.  Haven't been able to shoot it much but am ready to get my next one or two.  I'm thinking about a .308, 30/30 and/or a 12 ultra slugger.  Probably one or two of them in the next month.

Hello, Are you going to get more barrels or are you getting the whole gun? What are your intentions with your choice of calibers? Myself i would lean to the 308. It is a really fun one to shoot and if you are a hunter it does the job. Of course the decision lies in what your gonna do.

Thanks for the welcomes, I plan on getting the .308 for target shooting mostly, the slug gun for deer hunting(not necisarily locked in on the 12 gauge, I know that the 20 will fit on the sb2 receiver, which is a pretty convincing reason to me to why I should get the 20 gauge and make a gun that is only used a couple days a years into a gun that i can use year round).  The 30-30 for some reason that since I was little I have always wanted one, probably because my uncle has always had a marlin model 36 in 30-30 and it is the first rifle I have ever used.  I am thinking of at least getting the .308 as a complete gun and having the 20 gauge barrel fitted to that reciever or maybe another sb2 receiver, I'm not real sure right now.
